Silk is a delicate natural fibre, but it is not meant to live in a drawer waiting for a special occasion. With the right care, your silk underwear can be worn regularly and last longer.
Wash your silk underwear by hand, or in the washing machine on a hand-wash cycle, in cool water no warmer than 30°C.
Use a mild detergent made for silk or delicate fabrics. Do not use regular laundry detergent, bleach, stain removers or fabric softener.
Do not soak silk for a long time. A few minutes in water is enough.
Gently move the garment in the water. Do not rub, twist or wring it.
Silk is breathable, moisture-wicking and naturally resistant to odour.
It does not need to be washed as often as synthetic fabrics.
Rinse in cool clean water until the detergent is fully removed.
To remove excess water, place the garment on a clean towel and gently press it. Do not squeeze or twist.
Let your silk underwear air dry naturally.
Lay it flat on a towel or hang it carefully, away from direct sunlight and heat.
Never tumble dry silk. Heat can damage the fibres, change the shape and reduce the natural shine.
Silk may wrinkle after washing. This is normal.
To restore its smoothness and subtle sheen, steam it gently or iron it on the reverse side using the lowest heat setting.
If you need to iron the front side, place a thin cotton cloth between the iron and the silk.
Silk does not need heroic care. It only needs a little attention.
Wash it gently, dry it slowly, and let it be part of your everyday life.
